M42 Great Orion Nebula


Date: 25 and 26 December night, 2003

Telescope: Borg 76ED (grade B), piggybacked on C8, on Gemini G-41 mount

Guiding: ST-4 Autoguider with Celestron 8 SCT with stabilized mirror.

Camera: Genesis KAF1602E, with Astronomik Hydrogen-alpha filter behind a Televue 0.8x reducer

Location: Tai Mei Tuk, Hong Kong

Exposure:    long exposure frame (for the faint nebulosity): 23 x 10mins

                   short exposure frame (for the bright core): 15 x 30sec

Software: Image acquisition by Astroart, calibration and auto-alignment by Astroart, sigma-combined by Sigma, blooming spikes removed and touch-up in Photoshop, and then combine the two exposure frames in Photoshop according to procedures in Photoshop for Astrophotographers (by Jerry Lodriguss.)
